The Red Cross Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa provding all levels of multidisciplinary care. The oncology part of the service manages all childhood cancers including brain tumours, Wilms’ and other solid tumours, lymphomas and leukaemia’s. Approximately one hundred newly diagnosed patients are treated annually.

The GSCID’s Social Outreach division thought it fitting to support the Red Cross Children’s Hospital Oncology Department in the month of October given that it is the focus month for cancer awareness.

In support of this worthy cause, the GSCID’s Social division assembled goodie bags consisting of a colouring book, a sticker book, colouring in crayons and pencils and a bag of sweet treats for distributi0on to the children in the Oncology unit. A hamper containing hygiene products for children was also provided as a small gesture to bring cheer to the children.
