The GSCID Operations team does regular monitoring of maintenance issues in the area that need to be addressed by the City of Cape Town. Items needing repair or replacement are reported to the City via the C3 notification system and followed up. The GSCID is being assisted in this monitoring process by several Chrysalis students who are currently serving their internship at the GSCID.

Note:

Ratepayers are reminded that the city has an efficient reporting and tracking system for municipal problems such as potholes, drains, sewerage, waste removal and other municipal problems in the area.

The City’s C3 notification system, which has been up and running successfully since 2007 and to which more than 5 000 City staff members have access, was introduced when the City recognised the need for a consistent, reliable process to record, track and report complaints and requests from the public. This ensures that all requests for service, called notifications, are not only recorded, but responded to appropriately.

“Over and above the City’s ability to manage the individual incident, it is able to build up a history and monitor trends,” says André Stelzner, Director of the City’s Information Systems and Technology. “These trends,” he adds, “help the City to be more proactive and to allocate resources appropriately.”

The public are encouraged to make use of the system by asking for the notification number when making service requests. This will ensure that the City has a record of the event and makes the follow-up process far easier.

Lodge a service request as  follows: By phone on 0860 103 089 at the City’s centralised call centre, via sms to 31373, email to contact.us@capetown.gov.za, over the counter or writing to City of Cape Town,PO Box 298,Cape Town, 8001
