Sarah Chantler, a dietician from SSISA in Newlands, was fortunate to have stolen items returned to her by an astute GSCID patrolman.

Ms Chantler explains: “My car, which was parked at the bottom of Rhodes Memorial parking lot when I went for run on my way to work, was broken into on Saturday 12 January. The window was smashed and all my valuables were taken.”

Two weeks later, Mr. Cedrick Williams, a GSCID Patrol officer, returned some of her belongings, including her bag and several documents – ID, driver’s license and various papers -that he had recovered from bushes in Mowbray. “As anyone who has had this happen to them will know only too well, it is an extremely frustrating and time consuming experience having to replace all of these items,” said Ms Chantler.

“I was very grateful as I was saved the nuisance and administrative hassle of getting new documents.  Mr. Williams used his initiative on finding my student and work access cards for the Sports Science Institute to return the items to me.”

Ms Chantler expressed her grateful thanks to the GSCID and praised the exemplary conduct and good judgement of Mr. Williams.
