GSCID officers recognised for excellent work

A Letter of Appreciation from Lieutenant Colonel K R Wienand, Station Commander at Rondebosch SAPS is illustrative of the close partnership between SAPS and the GSCID in their efforts to fight crime in the area.

Lieutenant Colonel K R Wienand writes:

Apprehension of Burglary Suspect :Rondebosch CAS 218/04/2014:Rose Court ,Chester Road Rondebosch

“On behalf of Rondebosch South African Police Service I would like to express our appreciation for the assistance received from patrol officers Sapepa and Magobane. These members are an asset to the community of Rondebosch and to GSCID.

On Monday 2014-04-21 at approximately 07:00 GSCID officers Sapepa and Magobane responded to a call over their radio for assistance in apprehending a burglary suspect.

The suspect had broken into a flat in Chester Road in Rondebosch. The officers spotted the suspect fleeing the scene and assisted in apprehending him.

The Rondebosch policing area has experienced an increase in burglaries with a similar modus operandi used by the apprehended suspect. It is believed that the suspect will be linked to further burglaries in the area .

Thank you for the support it is most appreciated.”

At a recent visit to our offices, GSCID CEO, Anthony Davies, welcomed the SAPS representatives and expressed his thanks for their acknowledgement of the role played by the GSCID officers in the successful arrest and in other respects. He stressed the importance of continuing to grow this partnership and build an even closer co-operation with all law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.

The certificates presented to the officers form part of a GSCID Achievement Award programme in which security officers who go ‘beyond the call of duty’ are recognised for their excellence.
