Arbour Week is an initiative to promote greening of the environment and the planting and nurturing of indigenous trees in South Africa, to create awareness for the vital role that trees play with regard to providing oxygen, storring carbon, stabilising the soil and providing life and shelter to wildlife.

In support of Arbour Week, celebrated during the first week of September, the GSCID with the assistance of the Straatwerk team recently planted two indigenous trees in the Rondebosch CBD, one a Waterberry (Syzygium Cordatum).

The trees will be maintained by the Straatwerk team on a regular basis.
