Toward the end of last year, the GSCID acquired an emergency unit which is comprehensively equipped to deal with a wide range of possible emergency situations such as controlling accident scenes and cordoning off areas where disasters such as fires occur.

Charl Brooks, GSCID Operations Manager, says: “We are delighted to have the new emergency vehicle with its extensively stocked unit at our disposal. Besides using it in emergencies, we also deploy the unit to assist SAPS and the traffic enforcement department with road blocks, road closures and lighting up accident crime scenes at night.” The unit also serves as a first aid station and is used at special events such as the SAB Bierfest held in October.
